The Wisdom of a Wise Man

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” Luke 2:8-12

Last week I had the chance to see my 3 year old Godson as a Wise Man in his school Christmas play.  He was brilliant! (I’m admittedly biased):-)  Not only was he the cutest Wise Man I’ve ever seen, but he performed his part flawlessly, following the star to Jesus, giving Jesus a gift and then turning to the crowd and saying his line “Happy Birthday, Jesus!”  I couldn’t have been more proud if he were my own!

His little play was such a great reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.  Those kids were just as happy to sing Happy Birthday to Jesus as they were to talk about Santa Claus.  I wish he could stay 3 forever, because his simple joy and faith during this holiday season over the smallest things is enough to make my heart smile for the other 364 days.:-)

So in case you’re wondering what the cutest Wise Man ever looks like – here’s the superstar in action….

Here he’s adjusting his crown and inspecting his gift for Jesus before the long journey to the manger.  Gotta make sure everything’s perfect for his big scene.:-)

And here’s his shining moment – giving his gift to Jesus.:-)

After his big scene he marched right back over to his little blue “x” on the stage and started singing & clapping with the next song.  As you can see, we’re down to 2 wise men here – lost one to tears, and the other is clearly zoned out.  But my favorite little man held strong to the very end.  (He may have taken a small break to pick his nose before the 3rd song, but with such a stellar performance otherwise I’m sure no one will remember that.:-))

Merry Christmas to you and your family this holiday season!
