Susan G Komen Race for the Cure – Charlotte – Kids Dash

Last weekend I was at my 2nd Susan G Komen race of the month and it was just as emotional as the first one!  Both Charlotte and Greenville do amazing jobs with these races, and I totally loved participating in both events.  Two weekends ago I was a runner with Team Clarice, and this weekend I was a photographerfor the Kid’s Dash!  I didn’t think I would shed as many tears this weekend but I was completely wrong.  Seeing kids walk around wearing signs that said “I’m walking in celebration of my Mommy” pretty much kept my tear ducts busy for about 2 hours.  In addition to that, the Charlotte Fire Department had their Pink Lady out in the Kids Zone, and they had firefighters that were survivors there taking photos with everyone.  Talk about emotional!  If you’ve never been to the Susan G Komen race, please check it out next year – it’s an amazing race and an great cause that’s very close to my heart and I promise you won’t regret it!

Now let’s get to the fun stuff! Tough Kids Wear Pink……

The Kid’s Zone was rockin’ this year!  The balloon guy was a HUGE hit!
And Charlie Brown was VERY popular!  Makes sense, I mean he does have his own Halloween and Christmas TV special, plus he was in the Sunday comics for years. Who doesn’t love this guy?
The Wells Fargo volunteers were busy all morning handing out race bibs to the mini-runners and lots of goodie bags.  The kids had a blast!

The first of three kid’s dashes was awesome.  The kids had a blast and smiled all the way across the finish line.
Then the mascots gave the dash their best shot.  Charlie Brown and Snoopy brought up the rear with last place, but look at those smiles. The Kid’s Dash is all about just having a good time and these two clearly enjoyed the run.
Race #2 was another great one.  This little girl on the right is my favorite – dressed in pink from head to toe!  I would totally pay her for that hat/glove combo she’s wearing.
And then came race #3 – Mascots and kiddos racing together for a cure. Charlie Brown and Snoopy are at the front of the line for a head start but these kiddos are serious!  Check out those stances!  On your mark, get set, GO!!!
