One thing I’ve learned while doing the 365 day photography challenge is that some days are easier than others. There are days when I find myself struggling to find something to take a picture of at midnight, and other days when I wake up at dawn totally inspired. And then there are days like last Saturday, when Mother Nature decides to turn our backyard into a winter wonderland.
In South Carolina, we only get about one snow per year, and I’ve seen so few “big” snows in my lifetime that I can remember them all. This past Friday night was the 3rd time that snow has been in the forecast for our area this year, and we’ve seen everything from ice to rain, so we didn’t know what to expect. But what happened was absolutely perfect. While we were sleeping our yard was covered with about 4″ – 5″ of fluffy white powder. When we woke up it was the most beautiful thing we’ve ever seen – the sun’s rays were shooting through the trees and the snow was just sparkling. When you’re doing a 365 photography challenge this is the type of day that you only dream of. Being the proud Mom of 2 black labs, I immediately strapped on my camera to capture the moment. And wow. Just wow. Here are a few of my favorites – enjoy!
