One of the things that always amazes me every single time I shoot a couple is how different we all are. Love is a universal language, but we all show it so differently. When I’m trying to capture the love between a couple during their engagement session, the first thing I notice is how he touches her. Sometimes it’s with a fierce love, sometimes it’s very protective, and sometimes it’s something totally unique, but it’s always love. As soon as I met Melissa and Ricky I was struck by his gentleness. He touched her like she was the most fragile and wonderful thing he had ever laid his eyes on. I just couldn’t get enough of these two, and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next October.
These love birds are self-described “city people that appreciate the open fields of a rural setting”, so we wanted to start in the big city but move to a more intimate rural setting to wrap up the session. There are still some beautiful trees uptown so we took advantage of these beautiful fall colors.

I can get a little obsessed with stairs sometimes during sessions so I had to stop myself from keeping them on these stairs all afternoon. It just felt so intimate and the lines were just unending!
BEAUTIFUL ring! Love the bright, shiny, sparkles of a new engagement ring.![]()

We moved out to one of my favorite rural settings just as the sun dropped behind the clouds. Awesome boots Melissa!

LOVE it!
I think I could shoot between weeds all day. Especially when I’ve got this much love to focus on. See what I mean by gentleness? Love it!

Congrats Melissa & Ricky! Can’t wait to see you two again next October!
