We ran across this wall while walking through the upper west side on a trip to New York in 2009. It was behind a chain link fence on a school playground. I have no idea if it was intentional art or unwelcomed by the school, but I was completely mesmerized. The bright colors, the fact that it covered the entire wall of the playground, something about it just made a huge statement. I’ve seen other graffiti walls since this one, but none have stopped me in my tracks like this one did. My guess is that it is probably inspirational to me and annoying to others. But there’s no way this wall doesn’t draw some sort of emotion when you examine it. Inspired to hate, inspired to live, inspired to create, but either way, totally inspired.
