What started out as a cool weekend has become a Christmas tradition. My husband and I love to travel to New York at Christmas time. The lights, the people, the stores, the sights – they are all 10 times better in NYC during the holidays. We’ve been 4 times, so when I was packing for this trip I tried to think of a way to capture the city that I’ve never tried before. I always take my 15mm because the buildings are huge, and I’ve enjoyed my zoom lens to capture unexpected things that I don’t really want to get close to.
So this year, instead of packing all of my lenses, my flash, etc, I decided to take just my 50mm, and see if I could capture a side of the city that I’d never seen before.
I couldn’t be happier with how these turned out. The 50mm gave me the flexibility I needed to get lots of low light situations, and also turned the Christmas lights into beautiful bursts of background color. Enjoy!
