I’m your typical creative – give me a brush, pencil, marker, camera, stack of construction paper, or any other random craft supply, and I can build the world. But give me a ball, glove or tennis racket and I’m totally lost. On my report card in the 3rd grade my PE teacher actually wrote “Kelli has trouble throwing a ball or catching when thrown to her.” 3rd grade. Like I said, I’m not athletically gifted and I freely admit that. We all have our own special talents, and athletic prowess didn’t make my list.
This past January, I was lacking the motivation and desire to find an exercise routine. I’d tried pilates, yoga, kickboxing, treadmills and free weights, and everything got boring after about 2 months. Then a friend of mine told me about this great little Tae Kwon Do school in Ballantyne. I decided to give it a shot, and fell in love on the first visit. I am a very goal driven individual – especially if the goal seems unattainable. After about 10 minutes I realized that TKDo set goals for me, helps me attain them, and that it was going to be a challenge for both me and my new Master to get me to black belt. Sign me up!
As of the end of this month I’ll be about 30% of the way to black belt, and I’ve never been more confident or excited to exercise. So, wax on, wax off, that’s it for this installment of “About Red K” – Kihap!
